STCW IGF basic training Falck Safety Services

Training accredited by Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate

In January, the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILenT) audited the pilot 'IGF basic training' at the Falck Safety Services Maasvlakte training centre. The outcome was very positive; from now on we are allowed to offer the training certified by ILenT. In order to meet the demand for this training, we have scheduled the STCW IGF basic training on the 8th and 9th of March. After successful completion of the training, delegates receive the ‘STCW IGF basic training’ certificate.

Falck Safety Services has over 25 years’ experience in safety training working with several types of gasses in the petrochemical and oil and gas industry. The facilities at our Maasvlakte training centre include a LNG training object, which makes it possible to provide live demonstrations and train with this type of gas. Alternative fuels that are more often used in the maritime industry, like LNG, methanol and LPG, require a different way of working and that is why we offer the 'IGF basic training'. The IGF code includes 'safety for ships using gases or other low-flashpoint fuels'. The IGF basic training focuses on working safely with various types of fuels as described in the IGF code and with a main focus on LNG. In addition, participants learn how to control gas-related fires. This is a complete new type of training for the maritime industry (excluding gas tanker vessels).
